Operational Plans

Helicopter logging on the west coast of BC

Operational planning will deliver your project cost effectively on the ground, consistent with government objectives and any strategic plans for the area. Enfor's foresters and engineers will deliver you your successful Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP), related forest development plans that detail orderly development of an area, site plans, engineering plans, including the First Nations and public involvement process.

Your FSP will show the location of Forest Development Units and provide the results and strategies that your company and agreement holders will follow to achieve the Government objectives for various forest and resource values.

Along with the FSP, or ideally as part of the FSP, a forest development plan component will be needed internally that describes and illustrates how orderly harvesting, road development, deactivation and reforestation for a specific area will be managed over 3-5 years. It is the operational side of a Forest Stewardship Plan. It should consist of development maps and documentation that details forest resource values and management strategies for a planning area.

It is beneficial to make your development plan component also available for public review and discussion, although this is not a requirement. Involving the public in your proposals is always better sooner than later, and something you will need as your due diligence should you encounter questions about considering the public concerns in the area. We can help in this regard, having successfully worked on a number of contentious development areas.

The following are two sample development planning projects that Enfor has completed in British Columbia:

  1. Coulson Forest Products Limited
  2. Toquaht Enterprises Ltd.
